Margaret Nelson Goodridge, MN age 83 died peacefully on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the Villa St. Vincent in Crookston, MN with her loving family at her side. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN with Rev. Robert Dahlen officiating. Burial will be at the Goodridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:30 PM prayer service on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at Faith Lutheran Church. Margaret Ann Leona Vraa was born on September 24, 1931 in Reiner Township, Pennington County, MN the daughter of Archie and Cora (Tangen) Vraa. She was baptized in the Christian faith on November 22, 1931 at the Elmer and Eliza Vraa Farm Home and later confirmed in that faith on July 1st, 1945 at Rosendahl Lutheran Church, rural Goodridge by Pastor Bjorgan. She was lovingly known as "Margie" throughout her life. On December 13, 1948 Margie was united in marriage to Richard Nelson in Wichita, KS. The couple moved back to the home farm in Grand Plain Township, Marshall County, MN in 1950. Margie was a homemaker and loving mother of seven, Bruce, Brad, Lee, Keith, Randy, Deanne, and Cheri. She also stayed very busy with the milking of the cows and helping with the farming. Margie was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Goodridge, MN and was active in the Rachel Circle, Ladies Aid, Homemakers Birthday Club, and enjoyed helping the kids with the 4-H Club. Margie loved baking and cooking and was amazing at it. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, canning, holiday dinners, all the birthday celebrations, visiting with their great neighbors, had a unique sense of humor that was enjoyed by many, and most of all Margie loved her family. Survivors include her loving children, Bruce (Linda) Nelson of McIntosh, MN, Brad (Lana) Nelson of Oklee, MN, Keith Nelson of St. Croix, USVI, Randy (Cherie) Nelson of Candler, NC, Cheri (Noel) Haake of Crookston, MN, daughter-in-law, Donna Nelson of Thief River Falls, MN; 24 grandchildren, Ryan Nelson, Kyle (Kim) Nelson, Quinten (Alyssa) Nelson, Tyler (Kristina) Nelson, Brent (Megan) Nelson, Christopher (Stephanie) Nelson, Jennifer (Jeremy) Johnson, Kimberly (Chris) Davison, Kari McIntosh, Christy (Jesse) Tall, Melanie Holthusen, Jason Nelson, Peter (Ashley) Nelson, Elizabeth (Corey) Larson, Rachel Nelson, Timothy Nelson, Jessica Pederson, Megan Nelson, Jeramie (Amy) Nelson, Cassandra (Jason) Dardenne, Katie (Lee) Kepley, Joshua (Elizabeth) Butenhoff, Jarret Butenhoff and Danielle Haake; 38 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lavern Vraa, Ione Wiseth and Ardell Gibson; brothers-in-law, Julian "Curly" Gasperlin and Lloyd "Lars" Wiseth; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard in 2007; son, Lee in 2002; daughter, Deanne in 1988; parents; grandparents, Elmer and Eliza Vraa, Christian and Anna Marie Tangen; sisters, Elaine Wiseth, Irene Gasperlin; and her brother, Roger Vraa.
