Margaret Saffeels, 70, died on Tuesday, August 03, 2004 at the Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, August 9, 2004 at the Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with Reverend Gary Graff officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Red Lake Falls, MN.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Monday at the Funeral Home.
Margaret Mary McCasland was born on March 17, 1934 in Los Angeles, CA, the daughter of Everett and Hilda Margaret (Horton) McCasland. Her mother died when she was five years old and her father married Stephanie Gobiski, who helped raise Margaret. She attended school and grew to adulthood in Los Angeles. She worked for Packerd Bell and Bus Turmoal in California. In 1951 Margaret was united marriage to Donald Shnyder. In 1960 she married Les Saffeels. Margaret moved to Red Lake Falls in 1968 where she was a waitress at the American Legion and Savards Caf. Margaret was also manager of the V. F. W in Red Lake Falls for several years. She was employed at Simplot in Crookston, MN. Margaret then moved to Detroit Lakes for a few years, where she managed a resort and bar. After retiring, she returned to Red Lake Falls.
Margaret loved birds and dogs and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Les of Pahrump, Nevada; two sons: Don (Susan) Shnyder of Red Lake Falls, MN and Mike Shnyder and special friend, Sharon Hasby of Thief River Falls, MN; one daughter, Debra Shynder and special friend, Paul Weber of Red Lake Falls, MN; grandchildren: Mindy (Brett) Piersol of Red Lake Falls, MN, John Timm and special friend Patty Olson of Red Lake Falls, MN, Nicole Shnyder of Apple Valley, MN, Mike Shnyder of Minneapolis, MN, Deanne Shnyder of Phoenix, AZ and Anthony (Michelle) Shnyder of Litchfield, MN; and two great grandchildren: Nicholas Piersol and Courtney Piersol.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Cathy Hagl and her parents, and step mother.
