Margaret Thompson, 86, died Monday, August 27, 2007 at Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral service will be 10 AM, Friday, August 31, 2007 at Grace Lutheran Church, Grygla, MN with Reverend Mary Gilthvedt officiating. Burial will be 3 PM, Friday, August 31, 2007 at Bagley City Cemetery, Bagley, MN.
Visitation will be 5 " 8 PM, Thursday, August 30, 2007 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to service at the church, Friday.
Margaret Anderson was born April 16, 1921 at Bagley, MN, the daughter of Victor and Thea (Ysen) Anderson. She grew up in Bagley where she attended school and graduated from Bagley high school. Following her schooling, Margaret moved to Chicago, IL where she worked for a dry cleaner. She met Amos Thompson and on February 14, 1943, she was united in marriage to him in Chicago.
After their marriage, Amos joined the United States Navy and Margaret moved back to Bagley, MN. After Amos discharge, the couple moved to Mt. Vernon, IL for 2 years and back to Bagley for a short time. They moved to Weme, MN and in 1955, they moved to Grygla, MN, where they have since resided. The couple traveled to Belize, Central America in 1985, where they spent a year. In January of 2005, Margaret entered Thief River Care center, Thief River Falls, MN. She was a bookkeeper at Grygla Creamery, Grygla School and Mar-Bel Homes.
Margaret was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Ladies Group and Bible study group. She held various offices at the church and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary. Margaret liked to knit, crochet, play cards, read devotions and reading the newspaper to her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by husband, Amos, Grygla, MN; children: Mary (Larry) Bross, Isanti, MN, Paula (Terry) Babcock, Alamo, CA, Paulette (Rick) Passer, McGregor, MN and Robert (Lori) Thompson, Grygla, MN; 9 grandchildren: Steve McEnelly, Judy Johnson, Jenny Bard, Donny Bross, Pam Jeffers, Stacy Bohn, Jon Passer, Megan Thompson and Justin Thompson; 19 great grandchildren: Trevor, Annie, Katelyn, Logan, Nicole, Ericka, Andrew, Drew, Jasmine, Xavier, Kayla, Taylor, Jacob, Thea, Andrea, Ethan, Spencer, Carson and Marshall 2 sisters: Violet (Archie) Baumann, Wells, MN and Avis (Art) Sletten, Bemidji, MN; brother-in-law: Delbert Thompson, Mt. Vernon, IL along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Margaret was preceded in death by an infant son, John and parents.
