Margie Prestebak of Thief River Falls, MN age 88 died on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine, MN. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Voelker PhD officiating. Burial will follow at the Presbyterian Cemetery near Brooks, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN. Margie Irene Hanson was born on October 28, 1924 in Garnes Township, Red Lake County, MN the oldest of seven children born to Hans P. and Naomi (Hofius) Hanson. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. She attended country school and graduated from Plummer High School in 1943. Following high school, Margie went to work as a nurse at Mercy Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN. On November 12, 1944, Margie was united in marriage to Alton C. Carlson at the Clearwater Lutheran Church, rural Plummer, MN. They resided on the Carlson family farm in Wyandotte Township, Pennington County, MN and raised cattle and sheep. Margie also worked at the Falls Starkow Clinic, CNC Unit of Northwest Medical Center and at Oakland Park Nursing Home as a nurse. In 1972 Margie earned her LPN License. On June 6, 1983, Margie was united in marriage to Clement Prestebak and they made their home on the Prestebak Farm in Smiley Township, Pennington County, MN. Margie loved to travel; she enjoyed time outside hunting and fishing; and really enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an exceptional artist painting with oils, acrylics and porcelains. Margie enjoyed driving herself to Arizona several winters to take art classes until she moved to Valley Home in 2008. She lived there until 2010 when she moved to Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine. Survivors include her son, Charles (Kathy) Carlson of Thief River Falls, MN; daughter, Lona Stearns of Tonopah, AZ; grandchildren, Todd (Heidi) Carlson, Troy Carlson, Matthew (Katrina) Carlson, Sunny (Ryan) Wilde, Keri (Jay) Ouska and Brent Stearns; great-grandchildren, Grant & Maddie Stewart, Marlow & Remmy Carlson, Tegan & Levi Carlson, Karleen Wilde, Adam, Anna & Ashley Ouska; sisters, Shirley Yonke and Norma Swanson both of Thief River Falls, MN; brother-in-law, Mervin (Joann) Prestebak; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; step-father, Hank Altoff; sister, Idella Rewertz; brothers, Harvey, Harold and Allen Hanson; brothers-in-law, George Rewertz, Clarence Swanson and Leonard Yonke; sister-in-law, Arlene (Mel) Haugum.
