Marguerite Cartier, 88 of Bemidji, formerly of Red Lake Falls, MN died on Monday, April 3, 2000 at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji where she has resided for the past 8 years. Arrangements with the Petterson Funeral Home in Red Lake Falls.

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday April 6, 2000 at 10:00 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls with Father Tim Bushy Officiating. Burial will be held in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday only.

Marguerite Carmen Cartier was born July 23, 1911 at Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada, daughter of the late Joseph and Alice (Langlois) St. Pierre. Following her fathers death, Marguerite lived a few years at a Catholic Convent. At a young age she and her mother moved to Terrebonne where she was raised and attended rural school. Marguerite Graduated from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls in 1929. She worked as a secretary for the Lafayette High School. On June 13, 1934 she was united in marriage to Leo J. Cartier in Crookston, MN. The couple lived in Red Lake Falls. Leo passed away October 5, 1975. Marguerite continued to live in Red Lake Falls until March of 1992 when she moved into Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji, MN where she has since resided.
Marguerite was an active member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Anns Society. She was active in the French club and the garden club in Red Lake Falls. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She also enjoyed fishing and being outdoors.
Marguerite is survived by her two children Jerry (Zelda) Cartier of Bemidji, MN and Peggy (Mel) Schaupp of Mora, MN. Grandchildren Jason, Bruce, Bryan, Cheryl, Nicole and Noelle. 8 great-grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. One sister Carmen LaPlante of Crookston, MN. Brother in law Kenneth (Hazel) Cartier of East Grand Forks and sister in law Connie Emard of California.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
