Marian Paradis, 66, of Plummer, MN died on Saturday, July 03, 2004 at the Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 PM, on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Brooks, MN with Father Tim Bushy officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Vincent Cemetery of Plummer, MN.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at the church.

Marian Agnes Schams was born on December 30, 1937 on her family farm near Mauston, Wisconsin to William Charles and Hazel Anne (Mineard) Schams. She grew up and attended country school near Mauston and graduated from Mauston High School in 1955. During her high school years she worked at the Mauston Hotel cooking, cleaning, and waitressing. She took her teachers training in Mauston and did her student teaching at the Lemon Weir Township School.

Marian was united in marriage to Joseph Henry Paradis on June 27, 1959 in South Milwaukee, WI. They made their home in Racine, WI where Marian and Joseph started their family. She then left her teaching career to stay at home with her children. In 1965 they moved to Plummer, MN making their home five miles west of Plummer. After moving to Plummer, Marian and Joe began farming, raising Registered Polled Hereford bulls. They also owned and operated Paradis Recycling. She taught catechism at the Catholic Church in Plummer, Terrebonne, and Brooks for several years.

The time most precious to her was visiting and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She had a talent for oil painting. Marian most recently purchased a computer and was discovering the internet world, emailing her family, playing games and surfing the net. Marian enjoyed other crafts, photograhy and reading. Marian also liked to keep up with current events and the news and listening to talk radio. She enjoyed baking bread and donuts.

She is survived by seven children: Bonnie (Barry) Humphrey, Bismarck, ND; Ann Paradis, Gibbon, MN; Linda (Randy) Olson, Gibbon, MN; Kathy (Randy) Clausen, Redwood Falls, MN; John (Valerie) Paradis, Plummer, MN; Nancy (Glenn) Ahlers, Brownton, MN; William (Danielle) Paradis, Oklee, MN; 15 grandchildren: Jacob & Jeremy Rubischko, Tyrone, Elizabeth & Stephanie Olson; Alexandria Schill, Ariel & Josef Paradis, Melissa Paradis, Joseph, Breanna, Michael, Katelynn Ahlers; Mikayla & Seth Paradis; two sisters Joan Maytum, Hillsboro, OR; Wilma (Eugene) Brockmiller, Madison, WI. Special friends Sylvester Novak and Fern Christianson.

Marian was preceded in death by her husband Joseph in 1993, one son James William Paradis, one brother William Schams, and her parents.
