Marian Vatthauer, 74 died unexpectedly Sunday, October 02, 2005 at the home of her daughter in Glyndon, MN.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, October 7, 2005 at Evangelical Free Church, Thief River Falls, MN, with Reverend Mel Sich officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.

Visitation will be 5 " 8 PM, Thursday, October 6, 2005 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN, with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to services at the church, Friday.

Marian Adeline Sollom was born December 31, 1930 in Newfolden, MN, the daughter of Kettle and Hilda (Langlie) Sollom. She grew up and attended country school rural Newfolden. Marian graduated from Newfolden High School.

On October 12, 1951, Marian was united in marriage to Harold Ernest Vatthauer in Viking, MN. She was employed as a nurses aid at Budd Hospital, Roseau, MN, Mercy Hospital, Thief River Falls, MN, Falls-Starekow Clinic, Thief River Falls, MN and for over 30 years, she worked as a nurses aid at Northwestern Hospital and then finished her time in Central Stores department.

Marian was a member of Evangelical Free Church, Thief River Falls, White Cross at the church and was active in Christian Womens and the womens group at church. She liked to quilt, sew for children and grandchildren, attend athletic games and concerts of her children and grandchildren and visits with friends. She especially loved to tell stories about the past.

Survived by husband, Harold , Thief River Falls, MN; 3 children, Neilden (Pam), Rochester, MN, Edlyn (Sandra), Arlington, TX and Renate (Greg) Schmitke, Glyndon, MN; 14 grandchildren, Melissa Vigstol, Gaylord, MN, Karalee Vigstol, Apple Valley, MN, Andrea (Eric) Freeberg, Lakeville, MN, Reid Vigstol, Rosemount, MN, Deneall, April, Lana and Brooke Vatthauer, all Rochester, MN Karlyn, Brenlyn and Matthew Vatthauer, all Arlington, TX, Joshua, Benjamin and Ruth Schmitke, all Glyndon, MN; a great grandchild, Deniel Vigstol, Apple Valley, MN; 3 sisters, Norma (Harvey) Anderson, Princeton, MN, Verna (Clyde) Christensen, Thief River Falls, MN and Elvida (John) Kasteline, Souix Falls, MN; 2 brothers, Elwood (Marie) Sollom, Rancho Palos, CA and Adrian (Sue) Sollom, La Mirada, CA.

Preceded in death by daughter, Ronalie Vigstol, son, Karlan Vatthauer, parents, and 2 brothers, Harvey and Arlan Sollom.
