Marie Anderson, 102, died on Saturday, February 11, 2006 at the CNC unit of the Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Marie Anna Austin was born June 4, 1903 in Malung Township, Roseau County, MN, the daughter of Alantus and Anna (Severson) Austin. She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran Faith. She attended School District 4 in Malung and as a young adult graduated from the Agricultural College at Crookston, MN in 1921. She attended Bemidji Teachers College and taught rural schools in Roseau County for 13 years.

On June 20, 1936, Marie was united in marriage to John Anderson at Roseau. The couple lived in Roseau from 1932 until 1935, when they moved to Thief River Falls, MN, where they have since resided.

Marie was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, a charter member of Northwest Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Eagles, Thief River Falls. She liked to garden, visit with relatives and friends and enjoyed making lefsa.

Marie is survived by daughter, Janice Jan Klopp; grandchildren, John (Melissa) Azure, Dawn Marie Klopp and Dan Jay Klopp; great grandchildren, John Michael and Avery Azure; many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by husband, John in 1964, son, John Michael in 1995, parents, brothers, William, Emery, Oscar, Walter and Adolph Austin, sisters, Eva Spjut, Olava Holdahl, Martha Austin, Mabel Austin, Rosebell Austin, Millie Hadl and Adeline Grafton.
