Marilyn Winters, 85, died on July 12, 2007 in Newberg, OR.
Marilyn Orem was born on May 30, 1922 to William and Fern Orem. Marilyn was married on January 29, 1944 to Laverne Winters in Logan, Utah. Marilyn and Vern had three children, Bill, Ann and Joel Winters. Marilyn was a long time resident of Thief River Falls and worked for many years for Wells Fargo Bank. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and sang in the choir for many years. Marilyn was active in numerous civic organizations, including American Legion Auxiliary, Kidney Foundation, Noon Lioness, Concert Assn., and others. She held many leadership positions in these groups. At the time of her death, Marilyn had just completed a year as president of the 9th District American Legion Auxiliary. Marilyn was an avid bowler throughout her life and was inducted into the Thief River Falls Womens Bowling Assn. Hall of Fame. The Minnesota Twins lost one of their biggest fans when Marilyn passed away.
The family called Marilyn their energizer bunny. She was always enthusiastic about her many projects and responsibilities. She was a wonderful friend and mother.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Laverne on January 4, 1983 and her son, Bill on May 18, 1980. She is survived by a brother, Bill Orem of Fairmont, MN and a sister, Jean Wilkin, also of Fairmont; daughter, Ann Butcher and her husband Jay of Dundee, OR; son, Joel Winters and his wife Lorraine of Newberg, OR; seven grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Marilyn is also survived by special friend, Bob Reeve of Thief River Falls.
A memorial service and celebration of Marilyns life will be held in Thief River Falls on Saturday, September 15, 2007 at 11 A.M. at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
