Marilyn Joyce Anderson was born on May 17, 1935 in Grygla, MN, the daughter of Alton Julius and Anna (Hylland) Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN. When Marilyn was eight years old, her mother Anna passed unexpectedly from Guillian-Barre syndrome which left her and her sister, Arlene, to care for the household and motherly duties. She attended country school in Grygla and graduated from Goodridge High School in 1953. On February 20, 1954, Marilyn was united in marriage to Kenneth Wiseth at Grace Lutheran Church in Grygla, MN. They made their home in Langdon, ND where Kenneth worked for a farmer. In the fall of 1954, they moved to Thief River Falls and then to a farm west of Thief River Falls. In 1961 they moved to Goodridge and purchased land in Moylan Township. In 1969 the family moved to their new homestead on the farm. In 1978, Kenny and Marilyn sold their land and built a new house in Highlanding, MN and in 1993 they downsized to a smaller home on the same property. In February of 2012 they moved to the Thief River Care Center in Thief River Falls. Kenneth passed away in 2013. While helping with the operation of their small grain and pig farm, Marilyn was employed at various jobs including Oakland Park Nursing Home, Goodridge Public School, U.S. Postal Service, and Seven Clans Casino. Marilyn's favorite activity was spending time with her family - especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her younger years she enjoyed watching her children participate in sporting events, playing whist, snowmobiling, and dancing. In later years, she enjoyed visiting with her friends on the phone or over a cup of coffee, as well as vegetable and flower gardening, canning, and playing bingo. Her famous caramel rolls, donuts, and coleslaw were always special treats for her children and grandchildren.
