Mark Allen St. Cyr Sr. of Plummer, MN, passed away at Sanford Hospital, in Thief River Falls, MN, on March 29, 2015 at the age of 58. A "Celebration of Life Gathering" will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Brooks Community Center in Brooks, MN, from 1:00PM until 3:00PM. Interment will take place at a later date at his family plot in Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone, MI. Mark Allen St. Cyr Sr. was born on May 16, 1956 at Escanaba, MI, the son of Chester and Shirley (Godfrey) St. Cyr. As an infant he was raised by his grandparents, Walter and Thelma Godfrey. He graduated in 1975 from Gladstone High School in Gladstone, MI. He was married to Joyce Withrow. From this union a daughter, Jessica and a son, Mark Jr. was born. On February 14, 1996, Mark was united in marriage to Sandra Bakken in Thief River Falls, MN. Together they made their home in Brooks, MN, and Plummer, MN, where they have lived for the past two years. Throughout his life Mark worked for the Soo Line Railroad, Foltz Trucking, and for the last five years at American Crystal Sugar in Crookston, MN. Mark enjoyed woodworking, being outdoors, and working in his shop. He will be remembered as a gentle, caring man who will be missed by many. Mark is survived by his wife Sandra of Plummer, MN; children Jessica (Mark) Johnson of Appleton, MN, and Mark (Toni Schmidt) St. Cyr Jr. of Waite Park, MN; grandchildren Brandon and Ayla Johnson, and Bayley, Parker, and Lorelai St. Cyr; step-granddaughter Jackalyn Schmidt; mother-in-law Charlotte Bakken of Detroit Lakes, MN; brothers-in-law Gary Bakken of Detroit Lakes, MN and Rick Bakken of Callaway, MN; sisters-in-law Yvonne (Mike Ahles) Bakken of Detroit Lakes, MN and Pam (John) Gobel of Detroit Lakes, MN; nephew Sam Gobel of Bemidji, MN; nieces Meghan (Chance Buetow) Gobel of Duluth, MN and Courtney (Jared Swiers) Gobel of Detroit Lakes, MN; and great-nephew Oakley Swiers. He is preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; father-in-law Ray Bakken.
