Obituary

Mark Naplin, 50, died Wednesday, February 23, 2005 in Cohasset, MN.

Mark Edgar Naplin was born July 10, 1954 at St. John Hospital in Red Lake Falls, MN, the son of Edgar and Margaret (Strandell) Naplin. He was baptized and confirmed in Black River Lutheran Church and attended St. Hilaire Elementary School, graduated from Lincoln High School in 1972. He attended the University of Minnesota in Crookston, graduating in 1974, with highest distinction.

Mark was united in marriage to Michelle Thibert on December 26, 1975 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. The couple farmed in Black River and Polk Center Townships until 2003. Mark moved to Cohasset, MN in the winter of 2004. He enjoyed flying, fishing, hunting, camping, skiing, cooking, trapping and gardening and his street rod.

Mark served on the Boards of the Plummer State Bank, the Lincoln High School Foundation, the Red Lake Round Up Grant Program, as well as on the Black River Church Council and the Black River Township Board, as chairman. Mark was Pennington Countys Outstanding Conservation Farmer in 1988 and was honored as Pennington County King Agassiz in 1993. He was also a member of the Prairie Schooner Street Rod Club.

Mark is survived by two children: Kristin Naplin of Grand Forks, ND and Bradley Naplin of Red Lake Falls, MN; mother of his children, Michelle Naplin of Red Lake Falls, MN; two brothers: Charles (Sharon) Naplin of Thief River Falls, MN and Robin (Linda) Naplin of Park Rapids, MN; sister-in-law, Pamela Naplin of Port Huron, MI; five nephews; and special friend, Laurel Borreson and her children, Tiffany, Amanda, and Lauren and her grandson, Reece all of Cohasset, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Naplin; aunt, June Christensen; uncle, Everette Strandell; and sister-in-law, Mabel Naplin.
