Marles Gillespie, 86, died on Friday, January 13, 2006 at Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Reverend Terri Cuppett officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Johnson Funeral Service Chapel on Tuesday.

Marles Sorter Gillespie was born on October 28, 1919 in Douglas County, MN, the daughter of Pete and Hilda (Swenson) Sorter. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith and a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, north of Holt, MN and confirmed by Reverend Myhrer at Holt in 1934.

Marles was united in marriage on to Orville F. Gillespie on November 25, 1939 by Reverend Myhrer at the parsonage in Newfolden, MN. The couple moved to Thief River Falls, where they lived their entire life.

Marles is survived by one son, Neil (Joy) Gillespie of Thief River Falls, MN; two grandsons: Steve Gillespie and his daughter, Elle and Brian (Toni) Gillespie, and their children, Cole and Gracie, all of Thief River Falls, MN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville, on September 16, 1986; and her parents.
