Marlo Rae Strong of Apple Valley, MN, formerly of Middle River, MN, passed away on Monday February 23, 2015, at her residence in Augustana Healthcare Center, Apple Valley, MN, at the age of 71. She fought a long and courageous battle, having been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 32. A Graveside Service will be held for Marlo at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 2:30 PM. Marlo Rae (Hallquist) Strong was born July 24, 1943, in Thief River Falls, MN, the daughter of Carl Rodney and Doris Irene (Salte) Hallquist. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. She grew to womanhood and attended school in Middle River, MN. She was united in marriage to Paul Strong. They were blessed with two daughters and a son. They lived in various place during his enlistment with the Air Force, before settling in the Minneapolis area. Prior to her health deteriorating, she was a homemaker and her most important role was caring for her children. She enjoyed cooking, flower gardening, and music. She was an avid Elvis Presley fan. Also, she enjoyed the company of her poodle, "Bridgette" for many years. Marlo Rae is survived by her daughters Tracy (Lon) Curtis, Anoka, MN, and Tammy (Mark) Schuller, Yorba Linda, CA; her son Anthony (Carrie) Strong, Farmington, MN; grandchildren Amy Wymer, Anoka, MN, Sarah (Mark) Landis, Coon Rapids, MN, Ashley Curtis, Orland, CA, Nick Curtis, Anoka, MN, Melissa McIntyre, Maple Grove, MN, Jennifer McIntyre, New Prague, MN, Annalie Strong and Hayden Strong, Farmington, MN, and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her mother Doris Hallquist, Thief River Falls, MN; sister Connie (Jerry) Prickett and nephews Chris (Lorrie) Prickett and Todd Prickett and their families, all of Thief River Falls, MN. She is preceded in death by her father Carl Rodney Hallquist; grandparents Emil and Agnes Hallquist and Ole and Ragna Salte.
