Martha Omann, 89, died Monday, October 18, 2004 at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Red Lake Falls, MN.

Martha Schmitz was born on April 18, 1915 in Red Lake Falls, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Louise (Schnerrich) Schmitz, Sr. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Marys Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls and attended the Little Red School House in Browns Creek Township.

Martha was united in marriage to Louis Omann on August 28, 1950 at St. Marys Catholic Church. Martha worked as a cook at Hillcrest Nursing Home for 32 years. She will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity to others. Louis died on February 13, 1970.

Martha was always very interested in music. She played the accordion and saxophone as a young woman. She also helped to raise her two nieces, Judy and Beverly, who will be forever grateful.

She was a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Womens Auxiliary.

Martha is survived by her nieces, Judith (Dan) Clement and Beverly (John) Fite; 1 brother Edward Schmitz Sr., Red Lake Falls, MN; 1 sister Gertrude Knott, Osseo, MN, and many other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; her parents, Joseph and Louise; brothers: John, Crispen, Bernard and Theodore; sisters: Mary, Elizabeth, Agnes, Josephine, Cecila and Clara.
