Martin DeHaan, 90, of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016 at his home in Red Lake Falls,MN.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, March 29, 2016 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bill DeCrans officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 28, 20106 from 5 – 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Martin Jacob DeHaan was born September 12, 1925 son of John and Gertrude (Perrin) DeHaan in Detroit, MI. He was a graduate of the Agricultural College in Crookston, MN.
On November 17, 1948 he was united in marriage to Bernadette Herold in Crookston, MN. The couple made their home at Red Lake Falls where Martin was employed at the Rendering Company, at the Barkley Foundry, was a bus driver, owned and operated the Tastee Freeze.
Martin was a master of all trades, he enjoyed gardening, canning, jigsaw puzzles, talking and telling stories and socializing. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Martin is survived by his wife of 67 years Bernadette of Red Lake Falls, MN; children Pauline (Carroll) Drechsel of Fergus Falls, MN, David (Laurie) DeHaan of Red Lake Falls, MN, Nancy (Warren Uncles) DeHaan of Burrum Heads, Australia, Mary (Allan) Morken of Grand Forks, ND, Steven (Janet Fuller) DeHaan of Red Lake Falls, MN, Brian (Kim) DeHaan of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren Karen (Jeremy) Pederson, Cheryl (Chris) Anderson, Benjamin (Patti) DeHaan, Angela (Francisco) Gutierrez, Rachel (Sean) Herrold, Selena (Jason) Reed, Meredith (Matthew) Lhotka, Andrew Morken, Vanessa DeHaan, Marissa DeHaan, Kendall DeHaan and Jonathon DeHaan; great-grandchildren Madison, Holly, Brady, Kyra, Katie, Jack, Elsie, Gabby, Hazel, Frankie, Roman, Isabella, Audrey, Jack, Claire, Ellen, Alexis, Isaac, Ruby and Grace: brothers Gerard (Betty) DeHaan of Thief River Falls, MN and Jacob (Barbara) DeHaan of Red Lake Falls, MN and sister Elaine "Sis" Boucher of Crookston, MN along with many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents John and Gertrude, sisters Margaret LeDoux and Catherine Roberts, brothers Joseph DeHaan, John DeHaan, Anthony DeHaan, and infant brother Robert DeHaan.
