Martin Sund, of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at his residence in Thief River Falls, MN, at the age of 85.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Martin's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Johnson Funeral Service, Thief River Falls, MN.

A visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial service at Johnson Funeral Service on Friday.

Martin Sund was born at home on the family farm in Highlanding Township, Pennington County, MN, on September 9, 1932, the son of Evan J and Marie Christine (Sedig) Sund.  He was baptized into the Lutheran Faith and attended school in Highlanding, MN.

As a young man he moved to the cities and worked for several years.  When he returned to Thief River Falls, he drove truck for Hartz, worked for Arctic Cat, and worked for Pennington County until he retired.

He liked to fish and hunt in his youth.  He lived a simple life and enjoyed the quietness of the country.

Martin is survived by many relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his companion, Faye Sund; his parents; sisters, Gladys Olson, Sophie Rambeck, Mable Hayes, and Mathilda Sund; brothers, Evan Floyd, James Sund, Orvin Sund, and baby brother, Barent Sund.
