Marty Clifford Reierson was born on April 16, 1957 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of Clifford and Jeanette (Grabanski) Reierson. He was baptized and confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran church in Holt, MN. He attended Holt Elementary School and Marshall County Central High School in Newfolden. Marty was active in sports and played football, track, and wrestling. He was a member of the Future Farmers of America. He was also a 4-H member and showed his beef cattle at the Marshall County Fair and the Minnesota State Fair.
On July 12, 1975, Marty was united in marriage to Gloria Dahl at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN. To this union three children were born, Luke, Paul and Amy; and the family made their home in Thief River Falls
Marty has been a very hard working man and Jack of all Trades his entire life. He worked for Prichard Brothers, Hydra-Mac, Russell Holtan, Philips Iron, and Soo Line Railroad. After his railroad career working on engines, Marty started his own business in 1982 when he bought his first skid loader and started Reierson Excavating. He did snow removal, barn cleaning, dirt and gravel hauling, and tree transplanting. After his son, Paul graduated from high school and Northland Community College, he joined his father in the family business. Together father and son worked side by side. Some people referred to them as "The Dream Team"! Marty was never afraid to tackle any job…the words "I can't" were not in his vocabulary.
Marty was easy to talk to, always giving and lending a helping hand to others, and worked seven days a week from early morning until late into the evening. He was an excellent mechanic and took pride in a job well done. He had a heart of gold and was a very generous man. His hobbies included helping others, 4-wheeling, fishing, auction sales, and going for drives in the country. He was a very caring, helpful, loving family man, and loved to spend time with his wife and children on family vacations.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gloria; son, Paul; daughter, Amy; grand dog, Clyde; very special nephew, Randy Strain; parents, Clifford and Jeanette Reierson; sister, Marcy (Dr. Craig) Mickelson; brother, Mark (Jody); mother-in-law, Ursula Dahl; sisters-in-law, Linda Strain and Alison (John) Nowaski; brother-in-law, Stuart (Martha) Dahl Sr; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
