Obituary

Marvin Gustafson, 90, died Saturday, March 8, 2003 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2003 at 2:00 PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Terry Olson officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 13, 2003 with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson-Green Funeral Home in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to services at the church.

Marvin Henry Conrad Gustafson was born on March 12, 1912 in Johnson Township, Polk County, MN the son of Axel Emil and Annie Anlag Florence Gustafson. He was baptized and confirmed in Bethany Church in Johnson Township and also attended elementary school in Johnson Township.

Marvin worked on the family farm until he was 27 years old and then on September 27, 1941 married Regina Halvorson at her parents home. Rev. Halvor Lee from Nazareth Lutheran Church married them. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls in 1944. Marvin worked for the Soo Line Railroad from 1944 until retiring in March of 1977. He then worked for eleven years as custodian at Trinity Lutheran Church. Then Marvin and Regina enjoyed several winter spent in Yuma, AZ

He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, the Sons of Norway, and the Odd Fellows Lodge all in Thief River Falls and enjoyed fishing, playing cards and visiting with family and friends.

Survivors include wife, Regina of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; son, Arlen (Carol) Gustafson of Thief River Falls, MN; Angeline (John) Myerchin of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; four grandchildren, Laura Edgar of CA, Kathy Wismer of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Joe Myerchin of Long Beach, CA, and Mark Kezar in Texas; four great grandchildren; sister, Mildred Howard of Sauk Rapids, MN and brother in law Darrel Nielson of Bemidji, MN.

He is preceded in death by daughter, Marlene Kezar, parents, sister Gladys Nielson and brothers, Gust and Arlie Gustafson.
