Marvin Olson, 69, died suddenly on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at his home in rural Thief River Falls, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 PM, Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Burial will follow in St. Bernards Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral mass on Wednesday at the church.
Marvin Duane Olson was born on May 7, 1941 to James R. Olson and Ruth A. (Bakke) Olson in Warren, MN. He was baptized Lutheran and later confirmed Catholic. He attended school in Thief River Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959.
Marv was united in marriage to Candice Hoglo on October 20, 1962 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. He started working while he was in high school at Hartz Grocery Store and continued to work there for over 30 years. He then started working at Digi Key in the fall of 1991 and retired from there in 2006.
Marv was a member of St. Bernards Catholic Church, the Eagles Club, and the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association. His family was first and foremost in his life. He loved spending time with them and attending the sporting events and concerts of his grandchildren. Marvin enjoyed the outdoors, his yard, and his garden. He also enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Marv always had time to visit and enjoyed a good conversation.
Marv is survived by his wife of 48 years, Candice, Thief River Falls, three children: Steven (Jennifer) Olson, Thief River Falls, Kelli (Brian) Todd, Pelican Rapids, MN, Jill (Steven) Kruta, Thief River Falls, eight grandchildren: Ben, Sam, and Isaac Olson, Taylor and Dominic Todd, Rebecca, Mackenzie, and Kathryn Kruta, and several nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Marv was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Shirley Potucek.
