Mary Burnell of Thief River Falls, MN passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025 at Sanford Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Graveside service for Mary will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 1 PM in Forrest Hill Cemetery at International Falls, MN. Lunch will follow at the VFW in International Falls, MN.

Mary Lou Burnell was born July 2, 1944 in International Falls, MN daughter of Frank and Ruth (Underdahl) Graves. She attended school and graduated in International Falls.

On August 19, 1961, she was united in marriage to Allen Burnell at International Falls, MN. To this union 2 children were born Wayne and Tammy.

The couple made their home in International Falls where she was employed at Boise Cascade. On February 12, 2015, Allen passed away and Mary moved to Thief River Falls to be closer to her daughter Tammy.

Mary enjoyed watching TV and reading. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling, and softball.

Mary is survived by her daughter Tammy of Thief River Falls, MN; grandchildren Jeremy (Brooke) Ekman, Bryan Burnell, and Nicole Burnell; great-grandchildren Colton, Matthew, Kamber, and Nova, and along with many relatives and friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband Allen, son Wayne, siblings and other extended family.
