Obituary

Mary Louise Mercil was born on April 15, 1907 in Garnes Township, Northeast of Oklee, MN, the daughter of Joseph and Addie (LaFaive) Mercil. The family moved to the Brooks area and she attended rural Country School and St. Joseph Academy.

Mary was united in marriage to Wallace Fournier in 1926 at Terrebonne, MN. The couple owned and operated the Ada Cleaners for many years. They moved to Crookston, where she worked for Homehealth and in the 1980s they moved to Red Lake Falls. Wallace died on January 6, 1987 and Mary moved back to Crookston, where she has since resided.

She loved crocheting and has made 100s of afghans. Mary also enjoyed sewing, repairing clothes, flowers, gardening and going to the casino to visit.

She was a member of St. Anns Society.

Mary is survived by one brother, Wilfred (Gladys) Mercil of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace; her parents; one son, Duane in December of 1976; four brothers: Leon Mercil, Louis Mercil, Medore Mercil and Ralph Mercil; and two sisters: Leah Jewitt and Rose Gagner.
