Mary Jane Maier was born on August 6, 1922 to Joseph and Marie Maier in Mitchell, SD. She grew up in the Catholic faith in South Dakota attending parochial school, graduating in 1940. She was united in marriage to George Olson Kildahl on June 10, 1950 in Mitchell, SD. The couple lived in Minneapolis and Milwaukee for a short time after marriage. They moved to Thief River Falls in 1953. Mary Jane began working at JC Penney in Thief River Falls in 1962. She worked there for over 40 years retiring in May of 2003.

Mary Jane was active in a bridge club for years, a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, and active in her Church circle. Mary Jane enjoyed reading, spring flower planting, and baking. Her children & grandchildren were of the utmost importance to her also.

Mary Jane is survived by one son, David (Gloria) Kildahl, Crookston, MN; one daughter, Diane (Richard) Wilhelmi, West Fargo, ND; three grandchildren: Christopher Kildahl, Fargo, ND; Carrie Kildahl, Omaha, NB; and Kelley Wilhelmi, West Fargo, ND.

Preceded in death by her husband George in 1978, parents, and two brothers, Joseph and John.
