Obituary

Mary Van Lith, 80, of Warren, MN, formerly of Plummer, MN died on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the North Valley Health Center in Warren, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM, on Friday, January 29, 2010 at St. Annes Catholic Church in Goodridge, MN with Father John Kleinwachter presiding. Burial will follow in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery in Plummer, MN.

Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the funeral service on Friday.

Mary Agnes Horachek was born on March 19, 1929 the daughter of Anton and Mary (Bacilek) Horachek. She was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith in Goodridge, MN. She attended Goodridge High School.

She was united in marriage to Cornelius Frank Van Lith on April 23, 1949 at St. Bernards Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN. Together they moved to a farm near Plummer, MN where they lived and farmed for several years. They also raised many animals including dairy cattle, pigs, chickens, sheep and goats. Mary was a proud wife, mother and homemaker who helped with all of the chores around the farm as well as in the house. In her mid to late 40s, she worked at the O.D.C. in Thief River Falls.

Mary enjoyed working in the garden, canning pickles, visiting neighbors, embroidery, painting, sewing, singing in the church choir and riding her bicycle. She has lived at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Warren since 2001.

She is survived by her children, Evelyn Garner, Kansas City, MO, Carter Van Lith, Williams, MN, Betsy (Vern) Lien, Windom, MN, Claire (Robert) Schwehr, Dilworth, MN; 12 grandchildren, Christopher Garner, Shandell Van Lith, Amber Van Lith, Jacqueline Van Lith, Jennifer Van Lith, Cody Van Lith, Rosie Van Lith, Andrew Lien, Kelsey Lien, Ryan Barnes, Peyton Schwehr, and Tanner Schwehr; 6 great grandchildren and her sister Judith Lerol, Gilbert, MN.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Cornelius; son, Jeff; parents, Anton and Mary; sisters, Anne, Lydia Hammersley, Karen Nelson, and infant sister Mary; brothers, George Horachek, Donald Horachek, Anton Horachek, and Joseph Horachek.
