Mary Ann Schindler, 84, of Thief River Falls, MN died on Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN surrounded by her husband and children. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Burial will be in St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. prior to the service on Saturday. Mary Ann Schindler was born December 2, 1928 in Red Lake Falls, MN, the daughter of Hubert and Ann (Kees) Linnertz. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN and attended St. Joseph Catholic School, graduating from Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls. Mary Ann was united in marriage to Ray Schindler on June 12, 1951 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. The couple farmed and Mary Ann enjoyed being a housewife and raising her family. In 1954 they purchased a farm and resided there until November, 2012, when Ray and Mary Ann moved to Thief River Falls. She enjoyed making quilts, gardening, canning, berry picking and making jams. She also loved playing piano, playing cards and visiting with family and friends. Mary Ann was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and the Women's Guild and Homemaker Hazelnut Group. Mary Ann was one of the first 100 recipients of a Cochlear implant at the U of M. Mary Ann was a pioneer and strong advocate of the Cochlear Education and awareness programs, supported and sponsored through the Lions Club. Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Raymond of Thief River Falls, MN; six children: Don Schindler of Thief River Falls, MN, Theresa Olson of Fargo, ND, Bob Schindler of Thief River Falls, MN, Dale (Stephanie) Schindler of Lake Park, MN, Marlys (Shawn) (Schindler) Dunne and of Lindstrom, MN and Brian (Jill Stenberg) Schindler of Thief River Falls, MN; 11 grandchildren: Jennifer (Blazejewski) (Josh) Rademacher, Jenessa (Josh Wiewek) Blazejewski, Julie (Jeff Beving) Blazejewski, Cody (Amber) Schindler, McKayla Schindler, Savanah & Sophia Schindler, Michael & David Dunne, Nicholas & Jadyn Schindler; 2 great grandchildren: Barrett Rademacher (Jennifer and Josh Rademacher) and Cayda Schindler (Cody and Amber Schindler;) brother, Don (Theresa) Linnertz of Grand Forks, ND, and sister, Louise Lessard of Plummer, MN; step grandchildren: Shane Cullen, Krystle (Grant) Meyer, Justin Sundrall and Cody Stenberg. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Lucille Jones; grandparents; and an infant granddaughter, Sarah.
