Maurice LaCoursiere 90, of Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Bill DeCrans officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Red Lake Falls, MN. Visitation will be held Friday 5 - 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls and also one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday. Maurice Joseph LaCoursiere was born May 3, 1924 in Red Lake Falls, MN son of the late Arthur and Albina (Yelle) LaCoursiere. He was raised in Red Lake Falls and attended St. Joseph School. June of 1943 he entered the US Navy with the SeaBee's. He received his training at Camp Peary at Williamsburg, VA. Then the journey of 10,000 miles began. They traveled from Maine to California, to Pearl Harbor at Oahu, to Tinian of the Marianas Islands and finally to Okinawa Jima of the Ryukus Islands. On November 27, 1947 he was united in Marriage to Theresa Gagner at Terrebonne, MN. The day was 30 below zero and had to start the car with a team of horses. The couple lived and raised their family in Red Lake Falls. He was employed at Red Lake Electric in Red Lake Falls for 40 years retiring May 30, 1986.He began working at a time of rapid growth, due to a the request from people who had not received their electricity on the farms yet. Many years were spent on the line construction working a lot of the time on a wire stringing crew. Luckie was an avid fisherman and hunter, enjoyed spending time in his garden and cutting wood and could fix just about anything. He enjoyed attending the local sporting events and cheering on his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion in Red Lake Falls. He was an active member at St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Red Lake Falls Archery club. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Theresa of Red Lake Falls, MN; children Joyce (Larry) Desrosier of White Bear Lake, MN, Karen (Terry) Carr of Aurora, MO, Michael (Marjorie) LaCoursiere of Red Lake Falls, MN, Jeff "Eppy" LaCoursiere of Red Lake Falls, MN, Alan (Mary) LaCoursiere of Blaine, MN, Steven (Caroline) LaCoursiere of Coon Rapids, MN, Dennis (Nancy) LaCoursiere of Dell Rapids, SD, Darin (Laurie) LaCoursiere of Eureka, SD: 25 grandchildren Justin (Tracy), Wade (Jill), Jason, Jared (Stephanie), Jesse Bo, Valerie (Josh), Saul, Ivan, Leonard, Max (Caitlin), Emmett, Eli, John, Pearl, Veronica, April (Shawn), Jacob (Meagan), Noah, Lane, Ted, Henry, Sydney, Celeste, Chase, Carter: 14 great-grandchildren: several nieces and nephews. Brother-in-law Henry Gagner and sisters-in-law Emma LaCoursiere and Cherie Ann (Richard) Pederson. He is preceded in death by his parents, great-grandchild Taylor, siblings Omer LaCoursiere, Edmund LaCoursiere, Noel Yelle, Anna Brault, Cecile Cardoni, Odile Henning, Rachel Fournier.
