Mavis Grove of rural Red Lake Falls, MN passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, ND surrounded by her loving family.

Due to the Covid pandemic, private family funeral will be held.

Mavis Fern Ydstie was born April 4, 1938 at Thief River Falls, MN daughter of Waldemar and Molly (Bakke) Ydstie. She was raised on the family farm near Plummer where she attended school.

On July 3, 1954 she was united in marriage to Gary Grove at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN. To this union 6 children were born Gary Dean, Allen, Linda, Kenneth, Lorie, and Jonathan. The couple lived in various places in the upper Midwest settling on a farm near Plummer in 1961. Mavis worked at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Red Lake Falls for 31 years until her retirement.

Mavis enjoyed flower gardening, fishing, playing cards with friends, 4-wheeling and spending time at the lake home on Clearwater lake. Most of all she loved and cherished the time spent with her family. She taught Sunday school for many years.

Mavis is survived by her husband of 66 years Gary Grove of Red Lake Falls, MN; children Gary Dean (Lynette) Grove of Dilworth, MN, Allen (Sue) Grove of Glyndon, MN, Linda (Robert) Wilson of Plummer, MN, Kenneth (Kathy) Grove of Moorhead, MN, Lorie (John) Syring of Montevideo, MN and Jonathan (Diane) Grove of Highlanding, MN; grandchildren Adam, Aric, Josh, Amy. Michael, Michelle, Katlyn, Kaylee, Lexie; great-grandchildren Parker, Hadley, Benson, Bailey, Clayton, Colton, Owen, Liam, Jacob, Benjamin, Michael, Brady and Matthew; sister Cherie Sabo of Glyndon, MN.

Mavis is preceded in death by her parents, infant baby girl, brother-in-law Jerry, and nephew Danny.
