Mayme Hall Aune, 95, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at Oakland Park Nursing Home, Thief River Falls, MN.
Mayme Evenson was born July 25, 1909 in New Solum Township, Marshall County, MN, the daughter of Christ and Clara (Kinley) Evenson. She attended Busy Bee School and was baptized and confirmed at Rindahl Lutheran Church. She went out working on farms at the age of 15, working in the Stephen-Argyle areas.
She married Olaf Melvin Hall at the parsonage in Thief River Falls in 1926 in a double wedding with Olafs sister. The couple made their home in New Solum Township all of their married life, where they raised 5 children. After Olaf died in 1965, Mayme moved into Newfolden, where she worked as a cook at H and E Caf. In 1967, she moved Thief River Falls, working at Pauls Holiday Motel cleaning motel rooms.
Mayme married Carl Aune in September of 1967 at the parsonage in Thief River Falls. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls. Carl died in 1992. She moved to Oakland Park nursing home in 1996, where she has resided since.
She served as secretary of Rindahl Church for many years, taught Sunday School and was a member of the Rindahl Ladies Aid. Mayme enjoyed the farm life, reading, flower gardening, her sewing circles and having ice cream and caramel with her daughters.
She is survived by daughters, Lenore Wold, Janice (Irvin) Schmitke and Carol (Harlan) Halvorson all Thief River Falls, MN; son, David (Dee) Hall, Chicago, IL; daughter in law Doris Seybold, Brownsville, TX; 17 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, 1st husband Olaf; 2nd husband Carl; son Vernon, brothers Leonard and Chester Evenson, sisters Esther McMurray, Ann Borgaard, grandson in law Lonnie Nyflot, great grandson Matthew Halvorson and son-in-law, Rueben Wold.
