Maynard Duane Jenson, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on June 29, 2026, in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Born on May 26, 1940, in Badger, Minnesota, Maynard lived a long and full life defined by love for his family and unwavering kindness to all who knew him.
Throughout his 86 years, Maynard left a profound impact on the lives of his family and his community. He was a source of guidance and strength, and his resolute spirit and gentle presence will be remembered and cherished. Maynard spent most of his life in Badger, until he moved to Thief River Falls in 1983. It was there that he enjoyed the house he built with his boys. He loved gardening, the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.
Maynard was devoted to Barbara Jenson, who survives him. He was a loving father to Duane Jenson, Deb (Dwight) Ruud, David (Kristie) Jenson, Dawn (Todd) Dykstra, and Derrick Jenson. His enduring love extended to his beloved grandchildren: Michaela Jenson, Joey Jenson, Anthony Rinkenberger, Sheena (Joe) Rinkenberger, Matt (Lindsey) Rinkenberger, Joshua (Cheyanne) Ruud, Dustin (Barb) Senum, Tristan (Emily) Jenson, James (Rachel) Jenson, Ann Marie (Dave) Johansen, and Tony Dykstra; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
His family circle lovingly includes his sisters Ilene Berg and Diane Edens, whose bonds with Maynard were a lifelong source of happiness and support.
Maynard’s life was also shaped by those who passed before him, including his parents, Leonard and Gurtie Jenson, his sons Donald and Darren Jenson, and his brother Loren Jenson. Their memories remained close to his heart, and he honored their legacy through his own unwavering character.
Maynard’s journey was marked by the enduring connections he forged with each family member and friend. Whether gathered for celebrations or sharing quiet moments, the steadfast example he set in life will long be treasured by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to honor and remember Maynard Duane Jenson at a visitation on July 7, 2026. The visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with a 3:00 Celebration of Life Service at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, located at 420 La Bree Avenue North, Thief River Falls, MN 56701.
