Maynard Kalbakdalen, 67, died Friday, October 25, 2002 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at St. John Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Rev. Jeffrey S. Lytle officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Red Lake Falls, MN.

Visitation will be from 4-8 PM, on Monday, October 28, 2002 at the Johnson Funeral Service in Red Lake Falls, MN with a prayer service at 7:00 PM with Pastor Troy Bates officiating. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the service at the church.

Maynard Kalbakdalen was born November 1, 1934 in Grafton, ND to Melvin and Gladys (Fisher) Kalbakdalen. He grew up and attended school and Grafton and graduated from the Lafayette High School in Red Lake Falls, MN.

He was united in marriage to Joan Ford on January 18, 1954 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls. Maynard worked for the Soo Line Railroad for many years, retiring in 1994. He also farmed in the Red Lake Falls area. He was recently working at Eagle Square in Red Lake Falls.

Maynard enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, yard work, reading, and sports. He was a grandpa who enjoyed his grandchildren immensely. He also liked Lisas dog, Ned. Maynard helped form Pathfinders snowmobile club. He was also active in getting the golf club established. He helped put in the carpet greens and later to get grass greens. He also worked with the sportsmans club getting the beautiful park at the point. He was involved in the TCU, serving as an officer for several years.

Survivors include his wife Joan, Red Lake Falls, MN; five children: Jeff Kalbakdalen (Diane Josephson), Red Lake Falls, MN; Daniel Kalbakdalen (Molly Fox), Fargo, ND; Debra (Frank) Moran, Gail (Tony) Podenski, and Lisa (Mark) Violette, all of Red Lake Falls, MN; 14 grandchildren: Carmen, Shaun, Sarah, Jenny, Tamara, Rachel, Leah, Tara, Corey, Adam, Ryan, Angela, Brianna, and Melissa; four great grandchildren: Tyrus, MaKayla, Austin, and Jada. He is also survived by his mother Gladys Kalbakdalen, Red Lake Falls, MN; two brothers: James (Joyce) Kalbakdalen, Red Lake Falls, MN; Dean, Red Lake Falls, MN; one sister Jean (Leo) Ogletree, of Tucson, AZ. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends also survive him.

Preceded in death by grandparents, father Melvin, brother Lowell, sisters Marlys Audette, and son Robert.
