Melvin Rystad, 89 of Oklee, MN died on January 4, 1999 at the McIntosh Manor Nursing Home in McIntosh, MN.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 7, 1999 at 10:00 AM at Salem Lutheran Church near Oklee, MN with Reverend Terri Cuppett officiating. Burial will be held in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Thursday ONLY.

Melvin Rystad was born August 18, 1909 son of Ole and Pauline (Vik) Rystad in Garnes Township, Red Lake County, MN. Where he was raised and attended school. Melvin was baptized and confirmed at the Salem Lutheran Church near Oklee, MN. He farmed and also worked for local farmers being a life long resident of Oklee.

Melvin is survived by his sister Myrtle Stoneouse (Mrs. Donald) of Oklee, MN: brothers Elton Rystad (Ruby) of Grand Forks, ND and Vernon Rystad of Red Lake Falls, MN. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents Ole and Pauline Rystad, sisters Ann Brandvold and Thelma Dahle; brothers Olaf Rystad, Howard Rystad and Orvin Rystad.
