Mervin E. Munter, 58, of Newfolden, MN died on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Merit Care Northwest Medical Center in Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, August 27, 2009 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River with Reverend Curtis Matz Officiating. Burial will follow at the Spruce Valley Cemetery, Middle River, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:30 PM prayer service on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, MN.

Mervin Earl Munter was born October 19, 1950 in Fosston, MN the son of Melvin and Ellen (Bergerson) Munter. He was baptized and confirmed at Asphult Lutheran Church. Mervin attended schools in Fosston and graduated from Fosston High School in 1968.

He was united in marriage to Rosann Walker on August 18, 1994 in Thief River Falls, MN. The couple made their home in Middle River, MN and for the last few years have lived in Newfolden, MN.

Mervin was an over-the-road truck driver. His wife joined him in 1991 and they drove as a team until 2007. He then worked for Lindemoen Farms in Newfolden until failing health forced him to retire. Mervin enjoyed hunting with his boys, driving around, and talking to all his friends at The Wheel in Middle River, MN.

Survivors include his wife Rosann Munter of Newfolden, MN; children, Lynn (Wes) Flateland of Gully, MN, Kevin Munter of Pinewood, MN, Melissa (Shane) Kvalevog of Moorhead, MN, Terry (special friend, Nicci Dubois) Munter of Bemidji, MN, Aaron (Brittany) Munter of Middle River, MN, Joshua (Sarah) Werb of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Mary (special friend, Frank Zeug) Benitz of St. Paul, MN and Stephanie (special friend, Gary Roby) Werb of St. Paul, MN; seventeen grandchildren, Dustin, Christopher, Daniel, Tyler, Tanner, Austin, Karson, Cameron, Jade, Jacoby, Amanda, Keva, Riley, Hailee, Mary, Tasha & Zoey; mother, Ellen Munter of Fosston, MN; mother-in-law, Alice Walker of Inver Grove Heights, MN; brother, Gary (Sylvia) Munter of Fosston, MN; brothers and sisters-in-law, Karen (Tom) Barlow, Charlene (Brian) Fisher, Alan (Brenda) Walker all of South St. Paul, MN and Phyllis Covey of Fountain, MN; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his son, Jayme Munter; his father, Melvin Munter; and father-in-law, LaVerne Walker.
