Michael Brown, 51 died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at his home in Brainerd MN.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Greg Schramm officiating. Burial will follow at the Presbyterian Cemetery in Brooks, MN.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Monday, August 3, 2009 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until time of services on Tuesday at the church.
Michael Donavon Brown was born July 1, 1958 in Red Lake Falls, MN the son Donavon Don and Lenore Lee (Lanska) Brown. He was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Thief River Falls and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He attended Northrup Elementary, Franklin Middle School and Lincoln High Schools in Thief River Falls.
In November of 1977 Michael enlisted into service with the United States Navy. He served at Long Beach, CA and specialized in making mines. In August of 1980 he returned to Thief River Falls and attended school and graduated from AVTI in carpentry.
On May 3, 1982 Michael was united in marriage to Melodee Maidment in Thief River Falls. They lived in Thief River Falls until 1986 when they moved to the Twin Cities. There Michael continued to work construction. In 2006 Michael and Melodee made their home in Brainerd, MN where they have continued to reside. He worked over 35 years in construction.
His grandkids, fishing, watching the Minnesota Vikings and collecting hats were Michaels pride and joy. He also enjoyed spending time at his new place at Gull Lake north of Bemidji.
Survivors include wife, Melodee of Brainerd, MN; 3 children, Dustin Brown, Amanda Brown both in the Twin Cities and Ryan Gilbert of Fargo, ND; 6 grandchildren, Sydney, Victor, Jada, Gage, Colt and Adrianna; parents, Don and Lee Brown of Thief River Falls; sisters, Linda (Keith) Erickson and Pam (Neil) Konickson all of Thief River Falls; he is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Brandy; maternal grandparents, Barney and Virgine Lanska; and paternal grandparents, Frank Oscar and Blanche Brown.
