Michael Holmer, 17, died Sunday, October 12, 2008, at MeritCare Hospital, Thief River Falls, as a result of a vehicle accident.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 18, 2008 in the Lincoln High School Auditorium, Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Reck officiating.

Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM, Friday, October 17, 2008 at the Lincoln High School Auditorium with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service.

Michael Duane Holmer was born on January 24, 1991, in Perham, MN to Brian Duane and Ivy Rose (Mondt) Holmer. He was baptized in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Frazee and confirmed at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in 2006 in Crookston, MN. They lived in Frazee, MN where Mike attended school until the 4th grade. The family moved to Bagley, MN. He attended school in Bagley and Crookston, and was currently a senior at Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, MN. He also worked at Michaels Meats and McDonalds in Thief River Falls.

Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed the outdoors and had a passion for snowmobiling. Hanging out with his friends was a daily task. He liked fixing cars and farming with his Grandpa. He enjoyed driving the tractor and bulldozer. He was a helping hand for anyone. If anyone asked for help, he would be there. He enjoyed welding and shop class at school and was a hands on person. His favorite food was ramen noodles and kept a secret stash of them. Mike played football and hockey for a couple of years. He enjoyed roller blading with his friends. Pez collecting and reading were past times of Mike. He was member of the FFA.

Michael is survived by his father Brian (Heidi) Holmer, Thief River Falls, MN, his mother, Ivy (Steve Heden) Holmer, Plummer, MN, two brothers, Damon Gumphrey, Richville, MN, Brett Holmer, Thief River Falls, sister Briana Holmer, Thief River Falls, MN, maternal Grandmother, Clara Mondt, Clearbrook, MN, paternal grandparents Duane and Beverly Holmer, Frazee, MN, aunts and uncles, Connie Holmer, Crookston, MN, Cindy (Steve) Baumgart, New York Mills, MN, Brenda (Bruce) Miller, Perham, MN, Scott (Becky) McCullum, Fargo, ND, Eugene McCullum, Detroit Lakes, MN, Vicki (Jeff) Hicks, Austin, MN, Marion Silverste, Clearbrook, MN, Alan Mondt, Dent, MN, Norma (Darrin) Hongerholt, Austin, MN, Wayne (Ann) Mondt, Clearbrook, MN, Dave (Sheri) Mondt, Perham, MN, and several other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal Grandfather Jack Mondt.
