Michael "Mike" Lindholm, a cherished member of the Thief River Falls community, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 in his hometown, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 29, 1966, in Grand Forks, ND, Mike was the son of Dean and Lucille (Koukol) Lindholm. The family relocated to Thief River Falls in 1969, where Mike attended Northrup Elementary, Franklin Middle School, and Lincoln High School, graduating with the class of 1985.

Mike’s early work experiences were rooted in the family farm, instilling a strong work ethic that he carried throughout his life. After high school, he ventured to California, where he lived and worked for two years before returning to Thief River Falls. Mike was united in marriage to Karen Evenson and to this union two wonderful sons were born, Briar and Blair. It was at this time that Mike embarked on a successful welding career, eventually establishing Lindholm Welding in 1998. His business flourished, earning him the respect and admiration of countless satisfied customers over the years.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mike led a fulfilling life enriched by his interests and passions. He found joy in spending time at his place at Lake of the Woods, where fishing allowed him to connect with nature. A multi-talented individual, he enjoyed playing guitar, cooking, and was a self-proclaimed jack of all trades, often relishing the opportunity to create and make things.

Mike took immense pride in his family, especially in his sons, Briar Lindholm, who has taken over the family business, and Blair Lindholm, who has embarked on his own career path and relocated to Fargo, ND. Mike's dedication as a father was evident in the strong relationships he fostered with his sons. The joys of his life were his grandsons, Colter and Jack Lindholm.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dean Lindholm, who passed away in 1998, mother Lucille Lindholm who passed away in 2014, brothers, Mark Lindholm, David Lindholm and John Lindholm; and brother-in-law John Hanson.

Mike leaves behind his two beloved sons, Briar (Cassidy) Lindholm of Thief River Falls, MN, and Blair (Kristina) Lindholm of Fargo, ND; grandsons Colter and Jack Lindholm; sisters Kim Hanson of Owatonna, MN, Cheryl (Nick) Danculovich, of Hibbing, MN, brother Allan (Kathy) Lindholm of Oregon, nieces Jennifer (Jim Schwartzbauer) Hanson of Spooner, WI, Becca (Andy) Harrigan of Faribault, MN, Chas (Scott) Balut of Willow River, MN and Erica Lindholm of Maryland; aunts Sherin (Maynard) Elj of Nashwauk, MN and MaryLou (Dennis) Splett of Bremerton, WA; and several cousins.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday January 24, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, Minnesota. Visitation will be held one hour prior. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Mike are invited to honor his memory and celebrate the remarkable life that he lived. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow catered by Broadway Station.
