Andrew Michael Lehrer was born on Dec 6, 1940 in Thief River Falls, MN to Ruben and Lucille (Busse) Lehrer. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wylie, MN and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Lake Falls, MN. Mike attended the one room schoolhouse in Wylie, MN then went on to high school in Red Lake Falls, MN.  After graduating in 1958, he pursued a career in music education at the University of North Dakota. In 1966, Mike was united in marriage to Karen Longtin. They had three sons: Mark, Brian and James.

Mike held many posts throughout his life. He taught music in Goodridge, Red Lake Falls, and McGregor before being the Franklin Middle School band director in Thief River Falls. In the summers he worked with his dad and uncle on the family farm near Wylie, and later for Seeger Farms and Ose Farm.  He also taught Motorcycle Safety Training for the state of MN. He was an active member of the Jaycees and directed the TRFinettes in Thief River Falls. As a performer he played trumpet in the Northland Community Band and sang special music for many events. After retiring, Mike drove truck for Les's Sanitation, Carver Performance, and helped move cars for Thibert's Chevrolet.

Mike loved taking his family on trips, many out west through the Rockies. He showed his sons how to navigate the land and maintain any equipment being used. Mike enjoyed the outdoors while riding motorcycle, snowmobile, ATV, flying airplanes as a private pilot, and especially liked driving and analyzing various automobiles. He spent many Saturdays at the local auto and recreational vehicle dealerships looking at and many times buying his next vehicle. Countless cups of coffee were had at these places while he shared his thoughts on every machine he saw.

Mike stayed very active in church. He was member of Trinity Lutheran serving on the church council, directing and singing in the choir, and participating in Trinity's adult forums. He never hesitated to engage the pastors on various subjects in order to better understand his faith.

Mike's survivors include his sons Mark and James of Thief River Falls, daughter-in-law Renae Lehrer Red Lake Falls, grandchildren: Marissa (Carlton) Cleven of Skime, MN, Kylie Skime and Trandon Lehrer of Thief River Falls; John and Julia Lehrer of Moorhead, MN; Wylie and Livia Lehrer of Red Lake Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents Ruben and Lucille, son Brian, and grandson Thomas.
