Mildred Hovet, Thief River Falls, MN, age 100, died December 22, 2017 at Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, MN.
Funeral Service will be held 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in Ekelund Lutheran Church near Goodridge, MN with Reverend Kristin Ostercamp Officiating. Burial will be held at Ekelund Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018 from 5 – 8 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN and also one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
Mildred Loretta (Stucy) Hovet was born February 4, 1917 at Erie, Pennington County, Minnesota daughter of Edward George and Lillian Amelia (Wendelschafer) Stucy where she was raised and attended school. Mildred worked as a maid and was a waitress at the New Way Café in Thief River Falls, MN.
In 1938 she was united in marriage to Leonard Merritt, Leonard passed away in 1942. In 1946 she was united in marriage to Henry Hovet. The couple made their home on a farm near Goodridge, MN where they raised their family and farmed. Henry passed away in 1990.
Mildred enjoyed music, gardening, sewing, quilting, weaving rugs, embroidery and cake decorating, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the Ekelund Lutheran Church and Ekelund Ladies Aid, Homemakers, Lady Slipper, TOPS and Heritage Singers. Mildred belived in Honesty, Singing and The Lord Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her children; Darlene (Merritt) Omlid of Kodiak, Alaska, Fern (Hovet) Myhre of Minneapolis, Minnesota: Eight Grandchildren; Sherry (Omlid) and Wade Ball of Kodiak, Alaska, Ila (Omlid) and Wayne Amos of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Keith and Allison Omlid of Monmouth, Oregon, Randy Martin of Alexandria, Minnesota, Jeanine Martin of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Melanie Martin-Cobb and Trevor Cobb of Raleigh, North Carolina, Bill and Kendra Feragen of Fargo, North Dakota: Twenty -four Great Grandchildren; George and Jennifer Ball of Monmouth, Oregon, Dustin and Shannon Ball of Independence, Oregon, Amanda (Ball) and Daniel Kiefer of Kodiak, Alaska, Kaila (Amos) and Jesse Beahm of Roseburg, Oregon, Sara Amos of Santa Cruz, California, Jonathan Amos of Klamath Falls
