Mildred Toots Joppru, 90, died on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Thief River Care Center.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, June 18, 2009 at Zion Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN.

Visitation will be held 5-8 PM on Wednesday at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Thursday.

Mildred Rachel Hagen was born on April 11, 1919 to Olaf and Lilly (Rustad) Hagen in Holt, MN. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Rindahl Church. She attended the Busy Bee Country School.

She was united in marriage to Melvin Joppru on October 9, 1938 in Thief River Falls, MN. They made their home in the Rosewood area, Goodridge, and settled in Thief River Falls in 1948.

Toots worked many hours in the sales barn, meat house, and bookkeeping for Jopprus. SShe enjoyed baking, gardening, and playing cards. She was a wonderful cook. She was often seen dancing in her early years on Saturday nights. She sewed and was active in the Quilters Guild at Zion Lutheran Church. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active in her circle. Nothing made her more happy than to be at church on Sunday with all of her children. She was an avid traveler and made many trips to visit with her kids and grandkids. She moved to CNC six years.

Mildred is survived by one daughter Barbara Overbye, Lakeville, MN, three sons: Donald (Kyle) Joppru, Dean (Pam) Joppru, Rocky (Ann) Joppru, all of Thief River Falls, MN, son in law Mitch Hams, Thief River Falls, MN, 13 grandchildren: Wade (Cammy) Joppru, Tracee (Reggie) Bruggeman, Noel (Traci) Joppru, Cindy (Gordon) Holloway, Randy Joppru, Dawn Jones, Shane McNatton, Heather (Terry Helms) Overby, Jenny (fiancee Doug) Overbye, Jonathon (Lisa) Hams, Melissa (Jayson) Sletten, Keaton Joppru, Kristopher Joppru, many great grandchildren, Aaron, Caitlin, Kelly, Lisa, Jon, Heather, Amber, Jesse, Ashley, Jessica, Breahna, Kailie, Corey, Brittani, Austin, Sevanah, Haley, Bridger, Quinten, Blaine, Jaxon, Knute, Jana, 1 sister Irene Sjulestad, Phoenix, AZ, 1 brother Ernest (Jean) Hagen, Greeley, CO, sister in law Doris Hagen, Wadena, MN, many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Melvin on May 10, 1993, son Terry Joppru, daughter Jan Hams, son in law Arlen Overby, grandchildren: Bobbi, Kory, Lacey Joppru, 1 brother Percy Hagen, her parents.
