Obituary

Mildred Peterson of Thief River Falls, MN, 92, died peacefully Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at Sanford Hospital, Fargo, ND. Funeral service will be held Saturday, May 10th 10:30 am at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Greg Schram officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls, MN. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on May 9th at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. Mildred Octavia Wold was born August 31, 1921 in Sanders Township, Pennington County, MN, the daughter of Adolph John and Octavia (Bredeson) Wold. She was baptized October 23, 1921, grew up and attended Oak Grove Public School in Sanders Township and graduated Lincoln High School, June 4, 1943. On June 27, 1943, Mildred was united in marriage to Norman Arnold Peterson at her parent's home in Sanders Township. The couple lived in Silverton Township, 1943-1945, when they moved to a farm in Sanders Township. Norman passed away December 21, 1991 and Mildred moved into Thief River Falls, November 1, 1992. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, where she taught Sunday School, was a choir member and held offices in local and district Women's Missionary Federation. She was a member of Sanders Home Maker's group and served on the home council. Norman and Mildred received the Pennington County Soil Conservation Award in 1963, also the Valley Farmer and Home Maker Awards in 1965 and also 1985 at the Red River Valley Winter Shows in Crookston, MN. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, crocheting, gardening, canning, sewing, cooking, reading and attending children's school programs and sports. Mildred especially enjoyed visits with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survived by 5 children; Roger Ray (Sharon) Peterson, Ralph Sigward Peterson, Leslie Norman (Mary Jo Tweten) Peterson, James Adolph (Gail) Peterson, Wayne Arnold (Naomi) Peterson, and special son, Terry (Renita) Wold; 20 grandchildren; Todd (Michelle) Peterson, Troy (April) Peterson, Brent (Kristin) Peterson, Julie (Alan) Twedt, Aaron Peterson and Andrew Peterson, Sarah (Keith) Linington, Seth Peterson, Micah (Manda) Tweten, Elissa (Chris) Braaten and Ross Tweten, Eric Peterson, Jennifer (Bob) Swoboda, Steven Peterson, Ruth Peterson, and John Peterson, Erika (David) Wegenke, Zachary Wold, Jeremy (Haleigh) Wold, and Christian Wold; 23 great grandchildren; Brittany, Christopher, Ashley, Joshua, Jeremy, Caleb, Rebekah, Hannah, David, Abby, and Faith Peterson, Solveig, Malena, Elsie and Jens Twedt, Aubi and Tobin Linington, Will and Henry Tweten, Annie and Sully Braaten, Gracie and Anna Wegenke; and sister-in-law, Jean Wold. She is preceded in death by parents Adolph and Octavia Wold; husband Norman; brothers Francis, Bernard, Selmer, Vernon, Alvin and Virgil Wold; Sister-in-laws, Dorothy Wold, Pearl Wold, and Dorothy Wold; Daughter-in-law Phyllis Peterson and special son Stephen Wold.
