Mildred Srnsky, 85, died on Friday, March 28, 2008 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, March 31, 2008 at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church, rural Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Rena Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Czeh National Cemetery, rural Goodridge, MN.

Visitation will be held 4-7 PM on Sunday, March 30, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with a Prayer Service at 6:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service at the church on Monday.

Mildred Theresa Bye was born on February 24, 1923 in Star Township, rural Pennington County, MN to Henry and Tina Evelyn (Larson) Bye. She grew up and attended country school in Star Township. She started school at age 3 so that her sister would go to school.

Mildred was united in marriage on February 28, 1940 to Louis Srnsky. They made their home in Star Township where they farmed. They moved to California while her husband worked in the shipyards. They made their way back to Minnesota in 1944 where they lived in St. Hilaire for a short time. In 1958, they lived on the Iron Range for about a year. The family returned to their farm in St. Hilaire where Mildred spent the rest of her life raising her family.

Mildred enjoyed sewing and quilting. She sewed many Barbie doll clothes for the grandchildren. She did the crossword puzzle in the newspaper every week. She enjoyed playing whist and rummy. She had fun playing radio bingo years ago. She collected, like many did, the S & H greenstamps. She enjoyed reminiscing about the old times.

Mildred is survived by 8 children: David (Linda) Srnsky, Purcell, OK, Don (Della) Srnsky, Thief River Falls, MN, Tom (Bonnie) Srnsky, Thief River Falls, MN, Linda (Doug) Torgerson, Grygla, MN, Mike (Maria) Srnsky, Thief River Falls, MN, Randy Srnsky, Thief River Falls, MN, Sandy (David) Hagen, Red Lake Falls, MN, Dennis (Rose) Srnsky, Thief River Falls, MN, 16 grandchildren: Laura (David) Graham, Tammy ( Albert) Rangel, Danesa Srnsky, Kathy Srnsky, Kristy (Casey) Anderson, Tracy Srnsky, Shane (Lea Ann) Torgerson, Misty (Dale) Manderud, Travis (Stephanie) Torgerson, Jeremy (Kassi) Srnsky, Jason (Brianna) Srnsky, Daniel Srnsky, Chad (Alicia) Hagen, Ryan (Sara Carter) Hagen, Amy (Shawn) Shomaker, Samantha Srnsky, 22 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Louis in 1993, 3 children, Larry, Shirley, and Roger, 3 brothers Robert, infant Ray and Raymond, 2 sisters Edith Tveitbakk, Myrtle Skibicki, parents.
