Milo Westerlund, 57 of Middle River, MN died on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls, MN with his loving family at his side.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 11, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. Curtis Matz officiating. Lunch will follow the service at the American Legion Post in Middle River, MN. Burial will be at Emardville Cemetery, Plummer, MN.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN.

Milo Ray Westerlund was born on May 21, 1953 in Thief River Falls, MN the son of LeRoy and Asta (Fossum) Westerlund. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plummer, MN. Milo attended Plummer Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971.

After graduation he went to California and worked at a motorcycle shop for a couple of years. He then moved back to Thief River Falls and was one of the owner/operators of Du-Rite Construction Company with Rocky Newton and Jerry Dougherty.

Milo was united in marriage to Mary Carlson in Thief River Falls, MN. Then he and Mary moved to Grand Forks, ND where he did carpentry work. They later moved to the Bemidji area where Milo owned Turtle River Construction. He then moved to Middle River and continued construction and was last employed by H & S Construction.

Milo enjoyed deer hunting, gardening, working at Holtans cabin, motorcycles, playing cards, fishing, and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his mother, Asta Westerlund of Middle River, MN; brother, Greg Westerlund of Connelly Springs, NC; sister, Deb (Joe) Herrman of Dickinson, ND; nephews, Darian Westerlund, Lance (Melissa) Westerlund, Dale (Robin Sandsmark) Westerlund, and Allan Shumway; niece, Jessica Stoltman; great nieces and nephews, Alexandra Ellingson, Lucas Sandsmark, Devon Westerlund, Noah Stoltman, Haillee Shumway, Olivia Westerlund, Lydia & Natalie Westerlund; and many other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Westerlund; infant son, Shawn who died at birth; brother, Larry; and his grandparents.
