Munro Poole, Thief River Falls, MN, 85, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020 at Pioneer Memorial Care Center, Erskine, MN
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at St Bernard's Catholic Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Father Rick Lambert presiding. Interment will be at St Bernard's Catholic Cemetery, Thief River Falls, MN. Military honors will be provided by the Ecklund-Holmstrom American Legion Post 117, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2793 and United States Air Force Honor Guard.
Munro Neil Poole was born February 18, 1935 at Drayton, ND, the son of Elmer and Ella Iola (Brew) Poole. He was baptized in Drayton and confirmed at Benwood, MN. He attended country school in Drayton, ND and Strathcona, MN, Northrup School in Thief River Falls, MN, and his 9 th and 10 th years were spent at St. Bernard's School, Thief River Falls, and graduating from Lincoln High School in 1952.
He served his country with the United States Air Force from 1952-1956 and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.
On June 10, 1961, Munro was united in marriage to Jone Marie Vogen at St. Olaf Catholic Church, Minneapolis.
Munro worked as a conductor and brakeman for the railroad from 1956 until his retirement in 1997.
His hobbies consisted of fishing, hunting and radio-controlled airplanes. He also enjoyed playing cards, shaking dice and crossword puzzles.
Munro was a member of the St. Bernard's Catholic Church, the American Legion and Eagles Club.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years: Jone of Erskine, MN formerly of Thief River Falls, MN; children: Dena (Kevin) Klockman, Jeff Poole, and James Poole; grandchildren: Alexis (Nick), Shane (Anastasia), Darian, Max, Alex, Landen, Cody, Danielle, Andy, Ben and Charlie; great grandchildren: Kamryn and Elijah; brothers: Joe Poole, Jack Poole, Larry Poole, Tony Poole and Bill Poole; sister: Muriel Poole; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by a son: Brett Poole; parents; grandparents; brother: Pat Poole, Mike Poole and sister: Elizabeth Aasand.
