Obituary

Mylan Herbert Ruud was born September 5, 1928 at home in Rollis Township, Marshall County, MN, the son of Minnik and Constance (Johnson) Ruud. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. He grew up and attended Veldt Country School and Middle River High School.

On February 24, 1951, Mylan was united in marriage to Lila Brandt at Roseau, MN. The couple made their home in Rollis Township and later moved to Veldt Township.

Mylan worked for Johnson Wellscreen, Minneapolis, MN, Erie Mining, Hoyt Lakes, MN and Marshall County Highway Department for 27 years retiring in October 1991. He also farmed.

He was a member of United Lutheran Church, Gatzke, MN and served on the Church Council. He served on Roseau Electric Board of Directors for 12 years and also served as Town Board Officer for Veldt Township. Mylan loved playing guitar, keyboard and accordion and felt good accompanying others. He started guitar when he was 9 years old and with his sister, Eunice, sang together at different occasions. He played for Rambling Fever band for years. He enjoyed visiting with family and friends. He was a simple man; very family oriented, and was lovingly known as Henry Ford for his love of Ford vehicles.

Survived by wife Lila, Gatzke, MN; 5 children, Diane (Bruce) Lunsetter, Gatzke, MN, Donovan (special friend, JoAnn Anderson) Ruud, Middle River, MN, DelRay (Vickie) Ruud, Grygla, MN, Denise (Blair) Holthusen, Grygla, MN and Dwight (Debbie) Ruud, Roseau, MN; 17 grandchildren, Jerod (fianc, Tara Nesland) Lunsetter, Justin (fianc, Alicia Halvorson) Lunsetter, Jamie (Hayley) Lunsetter, LeAnn (Eric) Hokenson, Sheldon Ruud, Travis (fianc, Samantha) Ruud, Heather (Vince) Hagen, Derek Ruud, Devin Ruud, Anthony, Aaron and Ashley Holthusen, Joshua Ruud, Anthony, Sheena and Matthew Rinkenberger; 7 great grandchildren, Kelsie Hagen, Jordan Hagen and Tristian Hokenson, Ellie, Evan and Eli Lunsetter and Ethan Lunsetter; sister, Eunice (Joe) Novak, Thief River Falls, MN; honorary child, Jayne Miller, Goodridge, MN; lifelong friend, Ray McMillian, Grygla, MN and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceded in death by daughter, Doreen, parents, 3 sisters, Esther Mugaas, Lyleen Mugaas and Florence Lund and a brother, Roy Ruud
