Myrl Andreas Vettleson was born on November 22, 1917 at his family farm near Highlanding, MN to William and Matilda (Florence) Vettleson, the 4
th
child of 7. He grew up on different family farms near Highlanding. He served in the US Army Medical Corp during WWII. Myrl met his future wife Bernice Jane Carruthers and the couple was married on April 11, 1945 in Reno, NV. Shortly after getting married, he was sent to China via India on a flight over the "Hump" in Burma. He served in the African and Pacific Theaters. After the service, Myrl returned to his bride and they purchased a farm Northeast of Plummer, MN. Myrl milked cows and raised grain. In 1971, they sold their farm and moved to Parker, AZ, where Myrl worked on a cotton farm. During the summer months, they would return to Plummer. He worked for area farmers until he was in 80's. Bernice died in 2001. Myrl has lived at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston, MN since 2007.
