Myrtle Stoneouse, 87, died on Friday, November 5, 2004 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 8, 2004 at Salem Lutheran Church in Oklee, MN with Reverend Bob Paulson officiating. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Garnes Township, Red Lake County, MN.
Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 7, 2004 at Johnson Funeral Service at Oklee, MN with a 7:00 P.M. prayer service on Sunday evening and at the church for one hour prior to services on Monday.
Myrtle Josephine Rystad was born on December 9, 1916 in Garnes Township, rural Oklee, MN, the daughter of Ole and Pauline (Vik) Rystad. She was baptized July 29, 1917 and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Salem Lutheran Church and attended Country School.
Myrtle was united in marriage to Donald Robert Stoneouse on November 18, 1944 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Oklee. The couple made their home in the country, before moving to the Stoneouse homestad. Donald died in 1971 and in 1972 Myrtle moved into Oklee.
Myrtle was a homemaker who had great pride in raising her children. She enjoyed her guitar, puzzles, reading, quilting but it was her family that Myrtle enjoyed most. The time spent together with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was always special no matter what the occasion. Myrtle was very proud of her garden where she grew beautiful plants and flowers.
Myrtle was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and was active in Ladies Aid.
Survivors include children, Orlean (Virginia) Stoneouse of Oklee, Donovan (Marilyn) Stoneouse of Thief River Falls, Myrna (Jim) Lessard of Brooks, Ramona (John) Lessard of Oklee and Ronald (Cindy) Stoneouse of Oklee; grandchildren, Kristy Stoneouse, Danielle Magnell, Lisa Halvorson, Nicole Stoneouse, Michelle Magnell and Noel Nelson, Gene Trontvedt, Jesse and Chris Lessard, Wade and Chad Parsley, Adam and James Stoneouse; great grandchildren, Gunner and Matthew Anderson, Miranda, Nolan, and Nathan Magnell, Kjerstie Halvorson, Cameron and Kylie Parsley, Cody and Kaytlin Trontvedt, Tanner, Ian and Brock Magnell, and Cael Nelson; step-great grandchildren, Jessica, Jillian, Jenna, and Jarren Magnell.
She is preceded in death by her husband in 1971; son, Robert; parents; brothers, Howard, Melvin, Elton, Vernon, Olaf, and Orvin; sisters, Ann Brandvold and Thelma Dahle; son-in-law, Larry Trontvedt; and great grandson, Jacob Parsley.
