Myrtle Swick, 88, of Thief River Falls, died Friday, November 7, 2008 at MeritCare Northwest Campus.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, November 11, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN with Pastor Mark Helgeland officiating. Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M. on Monday, November 10, 2008 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls with a prayer service at 7 P.M. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Myrtle Lovena Utter was born November 25, 1919 at Akron, IN, the daughter of Chester and Ruth (Harter) Utter. She was baptized in Indiana and attended school in Akron, IN.
On September 9, 1936, Myrtle was united in marriage to Dean Clayton Swick at St. Joseph, MI. The couple farmed their whole lives and moved to Minnesota in 1948, locating SW of Thief River Falls. Myrtle worked at Arctic Enterprises from 1967 to 1976. On October 3, 2004, she moved into Thief River Falls.
Myrtle was a member of the Baptist Church. She liked fishing, gardening, canning and growing flowers.
She is survived by 8 children: Bill (Marie Fosster), St. Paul, MN, Joe (Juanita), Winter Springs, FL, Geraldine (Richard) Anderson, Burnsville, MN, Norma (Lester) Myhrer, Lakeville, MN, Kathleen Swick, Anchorage, AK, John (Kathy) Hibbing, MN, Ralph (Sandy), Grandin, ND and Raymond (Tammy), Thief River Falls, MN; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Donald Utter, Fowler, IN, along with several nieces and nephews.
Myrtle is preceded in death by husband, Dean on February 24, 1986 an infant daughter, Lovena on December 4, 1943, parents and a sister, Lorene Herron.
