Obituary

Myrtle Tydlacka, 81, died Friday, April 15, 2005 at Riverview Hospital, Crookston, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2005 " 1:30 PM at the St. Josephs Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls, MN with Father Gerald Noesen, Celebrating. Burial will be in the St. Josephs Cemetery, Red Lake Falls, MN.

Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM with a prayer service held at 7:00 PM and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service all at the church.

Myrtle Leona Ecker was born on February 2, 1924 in Almora, MN the daughter of Howard and Josephine (Cress) Ecker. They moved to Woodside Township, MN (the farm) in 1926.

She attended country school District 100, graduating from Bertha High School in 1942. Myrtle graduated from Minnesota School of Business, Minneapolis in 1943.

June 30, 1945, she married Thomas T. Tydlacka at the Church of the Resurrection, Minneapolis, MN. While Tom was in the US Air Force, they lived in Lincoln, Nebraska and Fredrick, Oklahoma. After Tom was discharged from the Air Force in September 1946, they moved to Eagle Bend, MN and Henning, MN, where they owned the Corner Caf and Hotel. In June of 1948 they moved to Red Lake Falls, MN where they purchased the L.B. Hartz Store.

Myrtle was a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, where she was a Past President, Hillcrest Nursing Home Auxiliary, Garden Club, Catholic Daughters, Red Lake Falls Civic and Commerce, Pathfinders Snowmobile Club, Permanent Ink Writers Group and Republican Red Lake County Chairwoman.

Myrtle was Red Lake Falls Gazette Editor from 1970 to 1983. She loved cooking and baking for her family and friends which was evident in the publishing of her two cookbooks, from my Desk and from My Desk II and opening Sleepy Hallow Bed and Breakfast. Myrtle dearly loved her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include her five children: Thomas, Jr. (Bonnie) Tydlacka, Pensacola, Florida; Charles (Julie) Tydlacka, Viking, Minnesota; Michael (Bobbie) Tydlacka, Hutchinson, Minnesota; Jerome Pete (Bonnie) Tydlacka, Red Lake Falls, Minnesota and Mary Jo (Bob) Schaeppi, North St. Paul, Minnesota; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; brother Jim (Shirley) Ecker, Browns Valley, MN and many close friends.

She was preceded in death by husband on September 8, 2003, parents and brother Vernon in 1986.
