Nancy Irene Cloud, a vibrant and devoted woman whose life was deeply centered around her family and community, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, at Sandford Hospital, Thief River Falls in Minnesota. Born on December 31, 1951, in St. Paul, Minnesota, Nancy was a lifelong Minnesotan who carried the warmth and spirit of her hometown throughout her journey.Nancy graduated from Central High School in St. Paul, where she laid the foundation for a life marked by dedication and an outgoing personality. Her career spanned various roles, including work at Walmart, The Patch Hotel, and Lake of the Woods Casino in Warroad, MN during the 1990s, and later as a desk clerk at the Super 8 motel. Each position showcased her warm approach to people and her strong work ethic, qualities that endeared her to colleagues and guests alike.Above all else, Nancy was proudest of her role as a caregiver to her family. She believed that family was everything, a guiding principle that influenced every aspect of her life. Her home was a place of love and hospitality, where she delighted in organizing and creating welcoming spaces filled with flowers and plants nurtured by her green thumb. Nancy had a passion for gardening and flowers, which brought her great joy, as did her fondness for collecting treasures from garage sales—each item a story, each find a memory to cherish.Nancy’s vibrant personality was evident in her love for social gatherings and spending time with those she cherished most. She enjoyed trips to the casino, lively moments with her grandchildren, and the simple satisfaction of a clean and organized home. Her outgoing spirit and caring nature left a lasting impression on all who knew her.Her family was a true source of pride for Nancy. She is survived by her loving husband, Lawrence Cloud, and their children: Tracey Homme of Thief River Falls, MN; Tabitha (John) Olson of Skime, MN; Nancy (Dan) Timm of Newfolden, MN; Jason Wind; Jeremy Cloud Wind; Lawrence Gibbs; Shelly Jack; and Anthony Gibbs. Nancy also treasured her several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nephew, and nieces who carry forward the legacy of her kindness and strength.Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Lois Clem; her brother, Dale Clem; and two daughters, Laura Gibbs and Mary Jane Cloud. Their memories remain forever enshrined in the hearts of those who loved her.Though Nancy has passed from this world, her spirit lives on through the family she so lovingly cared for and the many lives she touched with her warmth and generosity. She will be remembered not only for her outgoing nature and her knack for creating order and beauty but most importantly, for the boundless love she gave to her family. Nancy Irene Cloud’s life was a testament to the power of family, the joy of living, and the enduring strength found in caring for others.
