Natalie Maki, 49, died on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at her home in rural Newfolden, MN surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, February 20, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church, in Thief River Falls with Rev. Karen Holmberg-Smith and Pastor Ollie Urdahl officiating. Burial will follow in Rindal Cemetery, rural Viking, MN. Visitation will be 5-8 PM, Sunday, February 19, 2011 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Natalie Kay Johnson was born on June 24, 1962 to Michael Edgar and Sharon Rae (Wendel) Johnson in Thief River Falls, MN. She was baptized in Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Viking. She attended schools in Viking, Thief River Falls, Bemidji, and graduated from Marshall County Central High School in 1980. She completed a one year course in Sales and Marketing at Brainerd, MN in 1981 and worked for Minnesota Cable Communications Association. On June 12, 1982, Natalie was married to Donald O. Lagerstrom Jr. in Minneapolis, MN. They moved to Malmo, MN for a short time, the Twin Cities and then moved to Warroad, MN for 17 years. During this time, Natalie was a stay at home mom to her six children, although she worked at Marvin Windows for a short time. She was active as a Girl Scout Leader, 4-H Leader, and a Sunday School Teacher at Zion Lutheran in Warroad. In 2003, Natalie and Don moved back to Malmo, MN. They were members of Bethesda Lutheran Church in Malmo and Natalie worked as manager of the Isle Bowling Alley. Her husband, Don, died of renal cancer on July 30, 2006. In 2008, Natalie moved to Viking, MN with her two youngest children. On August 1, 2009, Natalie was married to Jerome Maki at Newfolden, MN. She worked as a sales clerk at the Underdahl Hardware Hank in Newfolden. In April 2011, Natalie was diagnosed with lung cancer. Natalie had a love for talking on the phone and keeping up with her family and friends. She loved her flower gardens and would be out there working bare foot for hours. She enjoyed dogs and animals. However, her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy in life. She is survived by her husband Jerome Maki, Newfolden, MN, four sons: Eric (Elizabeth) Lagerstrom, McGrath, MN, Kyle Lagerstrom, Thief River Falls, MN, Nicholas Lagerstrom, McGrath, MN, Michael Lagerstrom, at home, two daughters: Rachael (Benjamin) Largis, Red Lake Falls, MN, Aleshia Lagerstrom, at home, her parents, Michael (Linda) Johnson, Viking, MN, Sharon (Bill) Hoglo, Thief River Falls, MN, grandmother, Edna Mossestad, Thief River Falls, MN, step grandmother Vivian Bruggeman, Thief River Falls, MN, one sister Jennifer (Paul) Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN, two brothers: Steven (Rosemary) Johnson, Thief River Falls, MN, Wayne (Mary Helgeson) Johnson, Warren, MN, four grandchildren: Kiera and Aubree Largis, Reily and Tristen Lagerstrom, brother in law Michael (Carol) Lagerstrom, Isle, MN, brother in law Howard (Fran) Maki, Duluth, MN, sisters in law Gail (Karim) Sarfehjoo, Rochester, MN, Julie (Keith) Hodne, Warroad, MN, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
