Obituary

Neal Fox, 85, died Thursday, November 22, 2007 at Thief River Care Center, Thief River Falls, MN.

Funeral and Masonic services will be 11 AM, Monday, November 26, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Voelker, Ph.D officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church, Monday.

Neal Stanley Fox was born January 27, 1922 at home in Crookston, MN to Earl Chester and Eleanor E. (Lundeen) Fox. He grew up and attended school in Crookston, MN. He graduated from high school in 1940.

He enlisted in the US Navy in 1942 and served until 1945. He was a quartermaster aboard the U.S.S. Boyle in North Africa and the Mediterranean Sea. During his service, Neal married his high school sweetheart Joyce Geraldine Greseth on May 5, 1944 in Duluth, MN. After his honorable discharge, Neal and Joyce moved back to Crookston, MN. In 1946, he enrolled in UND and earned his BA in Industrial Arts in 1950. He owned and operated Neal Fox Photography Studio in Thief River Falls for over 40 years.

Neal belonged to the Eagles, Elks, American Legion, VFW, Lions, Golden Pioneers, Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Knights Templar, and the Jaycees. While his son was growing up he was active as a Cub Scout Master, and later became a Big Brother.

Neal enjoyed wood working, classical music, opera, ballet, musicals, swing band, and attending plays at the Old Log Theater in Minneapolis. He loved flea markets and auctions.

Neal is survived by two children, Michael (Mary) Fox, Elk River, MN and Margaret Fox, Thief River Falls, MN; two grandchildren, Andrew Michael Fox, Olympia, WA and Joanna Jeanne Fox, Elk River, MN; one sister Margaret Rosen, Nantucket, MA.

Neal was preceded in death by his wife Joyce in 2004, parents, and two brothers Ralph and Darrow Fox.
